Today saw an article in CNA news that someone is suggesting that caning should also apply to rapist who are 50 years n above. There is this saying something like "since u r medically fit to rape a person, then u should be medically fit to be caned".

wonder will caning will help to deter people from committing grave crime, for example rape is one of them. dun think so right. there are many cases of people committing these crimes even they know they will be caned. now the news is about those 50 n above commit rape will not be caned since the current law stated no caning for those 50 years old and above.

While reading on articles about these offences, came across an article that a lawyer mentioned instead of caning for sex offender, can use an option called Chemical castration.

Chemical castration uses certain chemicals to reduce a man's libido or sexual activity by lowering testosterone — the predominant sex hormone in males. This type of castration has been used as a punishment against sex offenders since the 1940s."

first time come across with this term. but again will this help to deter those sex offender. sometime people just commit crimes without thinking of the consequences, so all these punishments will not help to deter them.

maybe in future one day the punishment for a rapist is a death sentence then maybe it will become a deterrence factor.

This is a good suggestion. Too many of such cases in our small city, fathers raping daughters? Old men preying on young children, girls and boys, where aren't these scum of society given caning + castration Towards the end of their lives, they go around destroying those that just started.

Heavy penalty is the only deterrence, castration is the only way to avoid recurrence. Even for the age of 50, i feel they should be given max strokes. This will give the maximum deterrence and thorough investigation into the cases to ensure that no victims of false rape is convicted. Rapist and pedos deserve no empathy.
