Hi Bro, i kaypoh abit and share with you my recent test experience. Hope you dun mind.

I went to DSC early morning at 8am, went in take queue number and wait for my turn. The wait was filled with excruciating anticipation. Once my turn, go in to find 1 young chap (male nurse) sitting there greeting me in a cheery voice. He then asked me what i want to check for? I say blood test for HIV lor. Then he will ask some general questions about my sexual orientation (like men or women, or both), my recent sexual intercourse etc etc. Then he will ask if there's anything i want to ask or not? Then he ask if i want the express or normal test. I say want fast 1 lor. 20mins can know liao. So he proceeded to prick my finger to get my blood samples. Once done, he will give further advice about the practices of safe sex etc etc. Then he ask me go outside room 18 and wait for my number to be called for the result. This time the wait even more gan cheong.

Then my number was called and i went in to where the counsellor was ready with my result. Then i ask him "so?" He just look at his lcd screen for awhile, not saying a word. Then he said "No", "You dun have anything wrong, no HIV" phew....... i heaved a sigh of relief. Then he ask if there was anything else that i needed to know. I say "no". But i told him "I'll be back in 3 months for a follow up test" Then i left the clinic with a slight smile on my face.

Ok, why i went for the test? No, i did not do raw, but i know that HIV can be transmitted through unprotected blowjob and cunnilingus. So for a better future, i went for a check up lor.

If you are diagnosed with HIV, your particulars will be taken down and you will be referred to the CDC (communicable disease centre) where a counsellor will advice accordingly. Then you will have a specific timing to inform your spouse about your condition. If you don't do it within the specified period, they will call and inform for you. In SG law, it is an offence to have sex with someone without 1st informing your partner that you are HIV positive. Besides your spouse, no 1 else will be informed, not your parents, siblings or boss. Your details will also be kept confidential.

AfA test site only operates on tuesday, wednesday and saturday.
If tested positive, your particulars will not be taken down. and you are not reported to MOH.

If you are positive, they will tell you when you get your results. And they will refer you to places you can get help/assistance.

The person administering the test to you will know of your result as they are telling it to you. But it will not be broadcast to the entire world.

Bro what is the operating hour of AFA and what are the days. How are the charges like?

To avoid confusing the newbies, let's be clear on this.
the AFA test site IS physically the same clinic as the DSC at Kelantan Lane.

But the AFA anonymous test is between 6:30pm to 8pm on Tue and Wed, and from 1:30 to 3:30 ( i think ) on Sat. On Saturdays you can also op for Syphillis test ( Syphillis + HIV test is $30 ). Only these 3 days, and only at these specific times are the tests done by AFA volunteers. You are guaranteed anonymity ( unless you suay suay bump into your friend ), since no details or names are taken down.

But if you go at other times besides the time stated above, the tests are adminstered by DSC and is NOT anonymous.

So, my advice is, even if you are slightly unsure of your status, or want to have peace of mind, go and have your tests done anonymously. $20 is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

And yes, the 15 min wait for the result is excrutiatingly nerve wrecking. But the results (if tested negative) brings relief beyond words. So its worth it.
