Buying an apartment or land in HCMC
Need some seniors advice on this.
Let's say I purchase a condo in HCM under my name As a foreigner, it will be a leasehold of 60 years. Is it possible to transfer or sell at zero cost the condo to my maybe future bx after a period of time let's say 20 years and she will then be entitiled a freehold property since she is a local. I know a lot of seniors will say that rent is a better option. But if I have kids in future, then they could inherit a freehold property...Also I do not want to put my future bx name immediately after I purchase the property...

Re: Buying an apartment or land in HCMC
leasehold and freehold property is non-interchangeable, so its either u stick with the 60 years leasehold under your own name or buy freehold under your wife's name.

Re: Buying an apartment or land in HCMC
That means foreigner can only sell a property in vn to another foreigner.
Coz No locals would want to buy from a foreigner

Re: Buying an apartment or land in HCMC
i thought this issue has been discussed many times already..do some search in the forum and u will be able to find it.
btw its 50 years and not 60 years for foreigners..and isnt it more appropriate for u to consult a property agent rather then asking in a sex forum... ![]() |

Anyone who thinks their wives/partners are still going to be with them 20 years down the road is either very naive or very optimistic.

Re: Buying an apartment or land in HCMC
Bro, i understand what u r going through now.
I have been in HCMC for the last 4 years. Really not into buying any apartment at this moment. The law in Vietnam changes every now and then. Till today, i still rent a condo in dist 8, nice and quiet place. |

Since you said u been renting and staying in VN for 4 years, I have a question. For a single one person staying in Vietnam, if including the rental costs and all his living/food expenses, every month will exceed SGD $1900 or not?? I'm a single guy in my 30s. I'm thinking of taking a long break to go Vietnam to stay for up to one two years. I currently am the sole owner of a apartment in spore, I intend to rent out my this apartment and after deducting the monthly loan instalment to the bank from the rental yield of my apartment, I will still have a spare SGD $1900 every month. I currently have SGD $80,000 in my bank account but I totally do not want to touch my this $80,000 at all. Hence my question is for a single 1 person if he do not work and just taking a long break in Vietnam, is SGD $1900 enough to cover all the rental and living expenses/food expenses in Vietnam every month??
