Classmate from Shanghai (Warning: Long Post!)

I’m 33-yo Singaporean Chinese guy and got to know this 24-yo girl classmate from Shanghai.

Just some background of me. Had worked in the IT industry for 7 years and quit my job middle of this year to pursue full-time postgrad studies. The classes have students from Singapore, other South-East Asian countries, China and India. Singaporeans are minority accounting for maybe 20% - 30% of the students.

She is a fellow classmate, not attractive, just average-looking, does not put on make-ups and her fashion sense is quite dull. And I usually keep to myself and my own business in school. So I didn’t know her personally at first as students attend and leave classes, never talked to her but do recognize her as a classmate.

Ah smart girl , i like that. I find intelligent women sexy.As long as they are not ugly i find them super appealing . I take them over sexy bimbos anytime.

But there is also a downside to these kind of women, in that they think more than they feel. In short kinda heartless cos they can just turn it off.

One morning they might get up and their thought process tells them that you are deadweight , they will not hesitate to press the ejection button and dump you unceremoniously.

Anyway she just might be wanting to be friends and i dont read any signs or overtures of starting a relationship with you.

So why dont you take it one step at a time and come back for more counselling if she takes it to another level. Just dont 表错情.

Seriously, she sounds like an intelligent girl & more qualified than most of us here. Speaks multiple European languages, spent one year there on exchange program, how cool is that? At 24, she's been half the world & works as an expat here.

My concern is, are you good enough for her? Shanghainese are like Jews in the Chinese world.

We always complain about PRCs but in 10yrs time, we'll be out of job, replaced by highly intelligent & well travelled PRCs. I went to London's Chinatown for a meal & was surrounded by PRC undergraduates, they are in Cambridge & Kent. I went to Italy; Genova, Padova, all the major+minor cities & they are there either for work or students. These people will bring their wealth of knowledge & culture back to China.

Singaporeans must wake up from our comfortable shell & look beyond or displaced.

Yea. I mean currently I'm still at the stage where I can decide whether to spend more effort continue to monitor the situation or just leave her be. As said before I'm not mesmerized by her looks, and my mind is still clear, so there isn't a strong pull factor at the moment. Just that found her a bit warmer and sweeter than many gals who don't even give a hoot about me, maybe can add to shortlist for future consideration.

From my personal analysis, so far nothing to lose. In fact, I wonder what she wants and what I can offer her. Is there something else that PRC gals hanker after that I forgot to consider and guard against?

Paiseh, again, being paranoid considering poor track record of PRC gals. But so far, she's nice.
