The raids were to show the USA that human trafficking is relatively rare in Singapore, or perhaps that Singapore is doing its best to contain it.

Now that Singapore has been taken off the blacklist, I suspect that the frequency of raids will drop somewhat.

No news doesn't mean good news... The raids will keep on going, it's just the frequency... Don't forget, every time they catch those illegal immigrants/overstayers, they need to hand over to Immigration side to handle also.

They just had a big bunch of Viet women recently from the JC raids, remand centre and Immigration side also have processing capacity.

They have to so-call investigate, write report and then submit to prosecutor office. After all that, they subordinate court schedule has to be arranged to press charges.

I believe the whole chain involved are running at high capacity now. Raids may slow down but will never stop.

144 people were arrested in successive waves of enforcement operations led by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) last night.

The eight-hour operation, which started last night (July 2) and ended the following day, resulted in the arrest of 144 suspects of various nationalities for various offences including suspected involvement in gang-related activities, peddling contraband cigarettes, infringements under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act and vice-related activities.

The arrests were made at various locations across the island, including back alleys and entertainment outlets in Geylang, Orchard Road and South Bridge Road.

A total of about 180 officers from the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the Singapore Customs were involved in the operations.

Director CID, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Hoong Wee Teck said: "We are determined to keep up the pressure against all criminal elements. The message is simple: there is no place for such crimes in Singapore and the Police will continue to work with other law enforcement agencies in Singapore to keep the streets clean."

If the Police keep raiding all anti-vice activites, then SG will become worse only.... No FLs on the streets to provide sex.... only leagl GL fish-tank to provide sex, therefore lesser choices.... end up.... those SLUTs or SYTs roaming the street in the middle of the night.... will end up getting rape.... and therefore another social criminal problem arise becoz lack of foreign FLs to provide sexual services......

In addition, if lesser illegal gambling den in GL.... then, bookies will surely have other alternatives.... like increase the incentives for soccer betting through other channels.... or have other creative ideas to set-up more gambling dens.....

For smokers, thus, the incentive to sell contrband cigars will be even higher.... High Risk High Gain, n getting caught will be higher too....

The government is forcing its citizen and also those so-called FTs to create more crimes only.... if lack of sex workers in GL.... end up innocent girls getting rape only....
