Singaporeans are the world's second least sexually active

SINGAPORE - This year's Durex Global Sex Survey reveals that Singaporeans are just not having enough sex.


Globally, people are having sex about 103 times per year while Singaporeans lag behind with 79 times.

This makes Singaporeans the world's second least sexually active after the Japanese. According to the global sex survey, Asian countries generally lag behind in the love stakes.

The Japanese manage just 46 times of sex per year, followed by Singaporeans and the Hong ####ers, both 79 times and the Taiwanese 80 times respectively.

Apart from lacking frequency, Singaporeans also spend about four minutes less than world average of 19.7 minutes on foreplay.

The survey involved 41 countries and more than 350,000 respondents worldwide.

This is by far the largest and most extensive survey by condom manufacturer Durex.

Mr Cesar Balota, Country Manager of SSL Healthcare Singapore Pte Ltd, which markets the Durex brand of condom in Singapore, said: 'This year, 3,321 Singaporeans participated in the survey.

This is about 23 per cent more than last year's participation rate.' Mr Balota said that the survey was designed to compare national and global trends and provide important information on sexual health.

The survey by the world's leading condom brand also reveals that Singaporeans are having sex for the first time at average age of 19.

The average global age for having sex for the first time is 17.7 and the trend is towards losing virginity earlier.

The survey also indicates that Singaporeans started receiving formal sex education at 14.

And five out of 10 Singaporeans believe sex education should be taught by parents or guardians.

On the other hand, five out of 10 Singaporeans feel that the government should be investing sex education in schools as the best way to prevent sexually transmitted infections.

Close to seven out of 10 Singaporeans are worried about HIV/AIDS than any other STIs.

Though we are concerned about HIV/AIDS, Singaporeans polled indicated that they have had an average of 5.8 sexual partners.

And about four out of 10 Singaporeans have had unprotected sex without knowing their partner's sexual history.

This is 4 percentage points higher than the global trend of 35 per cent. Associate Professor Roy Chan, President of Action for AIDS, said: 'The figure for unprotected sex is still relatively high compared to the global average. Many Singaporeans are still taking risks with their sexual health.'

On the sexiest celebrity, Tomb Raider actress and UNICEF ambassador Angelina Jolie garners about 17 per cent of the votes to be the sexiest female celebrity for Singaporeans.

She is followed by Kylie Minogue and Jennifer Aniston.

Tom Cruise tops the league as the sexiest male celebrity for Singaporeans with 15 per cent support.

In second place is football star David Beckham followed by movie star Johnny Depp.

I think the surveys must have been filled out by married couples, therefore inaccurate. Of course, it's probably done the same everywhere.

So I guess what the survey represents is that married couples in Singapore are having sex less than every other country in the survey except Japan.

That wouldn't be suprising since men can go to GL, HC or elsewhere to get a nice young piece of ass so easily.

I agree.. I personally does it abt 3 times a week, depend on place and location as well. Survey may not be that accurate. Afterall, asian countries guys would not admit to open flings as much as the western counterparts?
