Alert ICA Ops on Cigs (non-sex related)

Sorry I know its non-sex related but like to warn Bro here.

there more than 20 ICA plain cloth now (19/10, night time) at Woodland MRT & Causeway Pt to caught ppl smoking malaysia cigs.

2 of my fren r caught (pls warn your fren if they r ard that area)

They will approach smoker & ask to check their cigs.

If the cigs is in casing, they will scare u that they got eqiupment at nearby Comd post to check whether SG or overseas cigs.

(Bluff one as I overheard 1 plain cloth say they cant when 1 person caugth challenge them at the comd post, LL, they let him off)

Anyway, pls careful as Gov no $$$ , need to pay fine $200 on the spot at the comd post,

Best way, QUIT SMOKING AND FORGET ABOUT THE TAXES and trouble!

no problem.

ICA fail to catch the big fish from smuggling in cigs, so now target poor local smoker (small fish).

Anyway, like the other Bro say, now not much freedom for smoker & getting very expensive to smoke here.

To add, town areas like orchard and bugis, are oso places for brothers who smoke to take note.

cos my frenz oso got caught at bugis not long ago, he had 2 packs wif him and he was fined $400.

sorry for my ignorance... but i thought if you go overseas (eg. malaysia and bintan) u can bring in opened pack of cigarettes one packet per person? anyway now if i have these cigarettes i will put it in cigarette case and throw away the pack.

Most of the “Big Fish” dun pay the fine one lah…. Usually those got caught are those runners only…

They just go into Queens town for a few months, and save few hundred thousands in fine….

Small fish different hor…. Most people dun want trouble will simply pay fine on the spot and fxxxk off…….

Imagine 1 day can catch 100 guy smoking contraband cigarettes… Whooooooooo……… 20k into the book….. Multiply by………

More cost effective than catching those “Big Fish” leh….. Big Fish still need to prosecute them, provide them lodging if they op to go to jail over paying the fine….. In the end Tan Boh Jit Kee Lan........

You're right bro and it's been going on for sometimes. 2mths ago my friend got caught too at the parking lot smoking Malaysian cigs, paid 200bucks. It's funny because you can bring in 1 mal cigs, yet you can't smoke it in public. Pretty lame if you ask me. The plain clothes policeman demanded the $ on the spot too. Don't know if they're real or fake policeman but a call to the station tells her it could be real.
Who knows, just be careful when smoking contraband cigs thats all. They're too desperate, I mean, whats even wrong with smoking? Its really none of their business and it's our $ our health.

wow. e govt. really f*ck me up sometimes. they jack up e prices of ciggies till nearly triple e price(when i started). if they really wan ppl 2 stop, jus stop bringin in cigarettes lor. at least, everything will jus stop.

for lower incom-ed ppl like me, i cant afford sg smokes, thats why turn to contraband. come to think of it. i dun see why they should increase e prices leh, even if increase to 20 dollars per pack, ppl will still buy rite? even thou the amount of smokers will decrease, the amount of contraband cig coming in 2 sg will definately increase. and more ppl will buy these 'fake' cigs, dun u think so?

I heard this operations from 2 of my frens when I was smoking cigs bought on my oversea trips in clubs. Was so shocked to hear that the govt could imposed such draconian rules on ordinary citizens. Just another example of govt oppression.

I ask 1 of my friend who just resign from ICA, according to him, if u are caught smoking malaysia cigs, they cant fine u if u have only have 1 open pack & can proof that u really go malaysia in the last 2 days (of cos ICA know cos they scan your passport).

The plain clothes will try to scare u & most will LL & pay fine on the spot cos they are scare ( plain cloth must show u their ID & issue u a receipt or u have the right not to pay on the spot).

1 Bro mentioned abt putting malaysia cigs in metal case, plain coth will also try to scare u that they have eqiupment to test on the spot. According to my friend, that one trying to bluff ppl.

They have such eqiupment at HQ but need time to test & would not anyhow use, usually use to test a big shipment whch change into box that look like Singapore Cigs box (with photo).

Anyway, a long as u r not caught with more than 1 open box, ICA cant do anything as long as u r not scare & they cant bluff or scare u into paying the fine
(that why ICA want ppl to pay fine on the spot so that ppl cant go back & think or ask ard for advise and later refuse to pay the fine ).

ICA or Police usual trick - try to bluff & scare ppl that they know or can proof that u r having malaysia cigs. And tell u if u caught lying, u will get a bigger fine and keep telling u to be honest so that u only pay the $200 fine & not into bigger trouble / fine.

Just b careful & act 'steady' if approach by ICA.

got ask for badge? maybe ask to go nearest police station?

I will never pay the person direct wan, $$ very hard to earn liao, dun wan to give it easily..who knows, the person never report? pocket $200 straight. or maybe not even ICA...

However, these increased incidents of stings by ICA really smack of a concerted effort by ICA upper management to impose themselves on the small fish. First, the 377A judgement then now this. Looks like the long arms of bureaucracy are not ready to stop meddling in our lives.

the SOP for iCA or Police is that they must show their ID / badge when u approach u & say that they are ICA / Police. Or u can f care them & walk away.

Also, they must give u a recepit when u pay $200 on the spot or u can ask for the recepit (if ICA cant give, just walk away, they LL) - same like shopping, u need a recepit to proof that u have pay.

Siah, $200, can have a good time at GL... I heard the fine going to increase soon.

The ICA cant stop the big fish from smuggling in, so I think they use the animal protecting sogan - "when there is no demend (small fish like us), there is no supply."

Alwau remember, if u r catch but the cigs is in metal casing (or not in malaysia box), just insist its singapore cigs, dont b scare by them.

The main target cigs now is the Texas 5, marlboro & salem, those Bros who smoke this cigs, I advise u to transfer them nto singapore box (not casing to prevent get stop)
