PDPC says do not disclose Nric from 1st Sep 2019

when the new ruling kick in 1st Sept 2019, no organisations are allow to take down Nric particulars, so can we don't fill in our Nric during visit to SPA ?

or should we just fill in the last 4 digit of the Nric eg: SXXXX234A like what most organisations are doing.

I think they can reject to offer you service if you don't provide nric if they are really anal about it. I'm not sure but that's the way I interpreted it

Re: PDPC says do not disclose Nric from 1st Sep 2019

There are a lot of organisations and situations that have exceptions under PDPA. The law is for the authorities to set as they want. The requirement to collect IC number is not what the spa owner wants but merely fulfilling a requirement set by the authorities. So what's going to happen? Everything is ah kong do as he likes, and magic can happen

Or if boh swee a bit, never mind, very quickly can pass amendment to gel everything together. Like Trump style "executive order"

Aiya just sign lor, I think the spas hate it more than us haha, overheard some staff grumbling before about this rule and how if they record wrongly, they will get fined or something.

And yes, they need to reject you (if they go by rules la) if you refuse to provide the identification. Nowadays more spas seemed to be more on about seeing my IC, probably cos a lot kanna fined (dunno how much fine the gov collect from all these man).

As precautions for getting the proper info, some will demand you to display your IC, then they record clearly handwriting. But have encountered an unprofessional ML, after recording, handed back my IC, then after that during session, start asking me about personal info that's on the IC. Wah lao ...

Wow. Rare case. Zap that place then.

So far I went to one, when ask ic number ( as they using ipad to register guests), i ask if i give them the number or they need to see the actual ic. Counter lady ask me to pass her, let her key in herself so as to ensure the ic is correct.

Hmm I thought they still need to get it, was talking kok with a group of friends yesterday and one of them said that the Spa he went confirmed that they have checked with the Police, but Police told them that they still need to collect under the law as PDPA law or something like that does not excuse specific cases where the law states that such info must be collected... Oh well, like some bro say earlier, think gov already covered all angles when they come out with the law.
