New Bangkok Airport guide

Hi boys ,my security guy just got back from a nice trip from pattaya and bkk .Asked him to do a recce of the options available .Here is the lowdown of his report to me.

The new airport is a huge imporvement from the last one.Lots of space, more room, better lighting, more organised..etc. Coming out,you have two options, take a cab from the basement where all the taxi counters are or you can exit at level 2 or 3 and take the shuttle bus straight to the transport centre. The buses are very regular and there are huge signs along the pathway outside indicating the waiting points.Every 10 mins or so.

The transport centre is about 10 mins by the bus . Its a great idea, its a bit like combining ekamai station together with a local bus depot .There are buses there to every part of bangkok .The 551-559 series serves the airport ,so look out for the 55#buses wherever you are staying in bkk.For example, 552 will get you to the airport from sukumvit road(you can hop onboard right outside ekamai in the direction heading towards On Nut) for about 35 bht.Takes about 1 hour.

The pattaya bus looks exactly like the one from ekamai, same buses and its every two hours starting from 9am. Can't miss it,there are signs indicating each destination on top of the bus bays .Pattaya is bay 1. 106 bht and gets you there in about 2 hours. Tickets on the bus. Regular service,my guy told me he hopped the 3pm bus and two friends of his managed to take the 5 pm and 11 am one earlier respectively. There are buses to other provinces as well. Definitely a first class improvement as this puts the airport within easy reach of all and from everywhere.

There is a food court level 1 which is really low cost and pretty good. A lot of places to eat within the terminal itself with quite a few reasonably priced sit down restaurants both asian and western .They have a cold stone type place inside the departaure area. A very good selaction of food like japanese, thai, asian, snacks, grill and even a burger king. Definitely a huge improvement from the drab fair in the old airport. all the shops are open too with the same range of the usual cosmetics, liquor and cologne.

Nice seats to lounge in with plasmas all around.Water coolers around.Reminds me a little of changi but on a smaller scale with less choices but a big improvement nevertheless.

Re: New Bangkok Airport guide

The airport is big... Really big and nice architecture. The only thing that annoyed me is that I really have problem finding "Smoking Room". I'm not sure whether I cok-eye or what but I cannot see any signs that lead to the "Smoking Room".

I remembered I alighted at Gate 5 for check-in SIA. After that, proceeded to immigration and entered. Saw nice sculptures and took some photo before I was in search for the "Smoking Room". Looking high & low, still can't find... Then saw some fast food and coffee chains, thought maybe got outdoor area that allow smoking... But NO leh... Then I took escalator and roamed about until I finally found a "Smoking Room" at the (not sure if its the Domestic/Cargo check-in area. After smoking, entered the security checkpoint and walked to the allocated area for boarding my flight. If I'm not wrong, once you have entered the security checkpoint, 100% NO more "Smoking Room" already.

P/S: Bros, please correct me if I'm wrong

Re: New Bangkok Airport guide

The shutter bus service from Bangkok New Airport to Town (Silom) cost 150 baht is reasonable. Just wonder have the Sky Train or the Subway being linked to this airport yet.

Bro, cab fare from airport to rachada at night, with smooth traffic will be around 290-320 baht, including surcharge & toll.

Wahahaha, ya loh... I remembered that it was 29th last month and I was so 'lucky' to use the new airport. I walked in to Gate 5 directly for check-in @ SIA. Then there was this SYT (working for SIA) wearing a white SIA polo-tee and jeans standing near the check-in counters. I was queuing up when she approached me. "Are you traveling on SIA? To where?" I was so mesmerised by her very SWEEEEEET looks and her fair complexion. I replied to her and she attached this orange SIA band to my luggauge and smiled at me. At that point, thought of asking her for a photo together with me, but backed out because there were some families (Singaporean) behind me. Kinda paiseh loh... I really can't concentrate after seeing her, so cannot really blame me for not seeing the "Smoking Room" signs rite??? Hahaha!!!
