(2) How many of you rely on taxis to ferry your KTV girlfriends to hotels or to works ??

Now an increase on taxi fares & petrol prices affected our transportation cost..
non-car owners will have to cheong HH more instead of mid-night activities.

1) Taking taxis, even many trips per day is still cheaper than owning a car.

2) If no car this is the only alternative as taixs are the onli mode of "private" public transport

Taxis are a Godsend especially after drinking as you should never drink & drive......another alternative for those who cannot leave home w/o their cars is the drive home valet service provided by some nightspots

I think as what bro red tirak said, owning a car just to save while cheong-ing quite defeats the purpose because we aren't encouraged to drink and drive, secondly we're tuning to Happy hours sessions instead. My suggestion, rotate the driver role among the members of the chain (cheong) gang. Get one to drive and make sure he doesn't binge as much. The rest get free rides to and from home and if they so prefer private rides, individuals can take their own taxi from ktv to hotel (most of the time, they bring their girl and hitch a ride to hotel then settle the rest of the trips themselves). That's what my buddies do.

Now i understand why ktv in geylang is hot, the hotels/girls' lodging/ktv/dinner places/supper places are all in the vicinity!

Owning a car is more for convenience rather than save cost as nowadays cars are simply priced out of the reach of ordinary S'poreans.

I believe some bros who chiong prefer not to drive as afraid that someone might spot their cars in hotel carparks, in Geylang etc. Hence, Taxi is a good alternative but seems like the fares are creeping up.... which ultimately increases our bonking cost!

The rise in fuel prices are eating into the income of Taxi drivers, but the chunk of their income goes to paying the rentals to the Taxi companies. Therefore i think it is incorrect to justify / attribute the fare increase to help the Taxi drivers.

Commuters might be put off with the fare increase and take less Taxi, in the end, its the Taxi drivers who lose out...

Transport companies should genuinely consider lowering their rentals.
