Quite obvious, rate is like exponential since there is no cure,
1 = 2
2 = 4
4 = 8
8 = 16

etc etc
So risk getting higher and higher .... so make sure no RAW.

Re: HIV stats

actually, the existing number of people who have HIV might already be higher since people don't know if they don't test for it.

It's always better to go for regular testing if you engage in 'higher risk' behavior, like fucking FLs, or having ONS, etc.. don't wait until get AIDS liao, dying away then seek treatment. by then it might be too late.
If you know your HIV status, +ve ppl can also take precaution and don't infect other people, also learn how to maintain their overall health and well-being.

What if he enter a new relationship with a new girl ?
His life expentancy is limited.
No point engaging a relationship that might end miserable and sorrow 1 day.

Bro, another thing u mentioned: don't wait until get AIDS liao, dying away then seek treatment. Treatment only prolong life a little but still no point also.
As for well being, depends on individuals liao.

Re: HIV stats

aiyah, let lim peh tell you, based on personal experiences and knowledge... many HIV+ people who know that they are +Ve can live for long long time,they look perfectly healthy and fine, they lead normal everyday lives too. they have a job, they have partners, etc..they're sometimes happy, sometimes sad. if ask them if they think they should just go and die, most don't think they want to, life is quite alright.
they just complain medicine have side effects, have to take alot of pills to maintain their health.

Re: HIV stats

tahantahan,

They didn't die within 3 months after infection of HIV. They died within 3 months of diagnosis of AIDS. They were infected by HIV years before that. Later it developed into AIDS, which 'ate' away their body. It must have gone on for quite a while before they got diagnosed.

Who are you to say that no point also if life is prolonged a little while longer?

While some would rather go quickly to end the suffering but I am sure others will value every single minute they get to live longer.

It's really a personal thing, maybe they would be happy to see one more sunrise, hold one loved one's hand one more time, etc.

Besides, life is a terminal 'disease'. We all die also, so no point right?

It s a cocktails of many drugs & as alot of HIV infections happen in developing countries that is why its cost expensive & out of reach to many.

HIV to AIDS incubation period is 8-10 years from time of infection. After onset of full-blown AIDS....death is swift.

Re: HIV stats

Sometime i very confuse with that stats. Estimated 400 ppl got Hiv/AIDS but does this cover the anonymous testing also or just stats for those who found +v without anonymous test? Then the latest news i read that there is estimated 10,000 ppl living with HIV know & unknowingly in SG, and now i read 200 new cases in everymonth in SG. This getting so complicated

Re: HIV stats

300-400 is the number of cases diagnosed with HIV every year. This figure includes those who test at the anonymous testing facilities. Anonymous means no name, no particulars taken. There's no 200 new cases every month.

It is estimated that there are 10,000 people with HIV in Singapore, this is based on the percentage of the population that has HIV. This number is derived from comparison with other country's figures, their percentage of population with HIV.

10,000 is the likely figure, so far only discovered 3000 cases. So 7000 people have HIV but they do not know it. It's the 7000 that have HIV but don't think that they have it which is the most 'dangerous' bunch. Because they don't think that they have HIV, they don't take precautions and they continue to pass it on to other people. So this 10,000 figure will grow and grow.

What can YOU do? are you part of the 7000? You really won't know until you go for testing.
