I am a long-time patron of both discoes. Except two single times, I was the only non local there.
What's better is exquisitely a personal opinion. They are different.
I recommend to avoid Planet: lower level, darker, questionable people is the majority.
MUSIC
In both places, it's Indo techno, that is an unique kind of techno. Look on the net for "dugem" or "dj pacific batam" and you can have a sample of that.
I tend to prefer Newton. At Newton music is louder, if even seems possible, and a bit harder techno.
99% of people will run away in 5 minutes: too loud, too dark.
AMBIENCE
Pacific is larger, so it's still possible to have some conversation and look at faces.
It's an Indo disco anyway: dark, loud, many are tripping around (extacy).
Newton is PACKED! There is no more people, but it looks so because of packing. Even more tripping.
