Fair comment. Mine was just my personal views, no offence to bros who enjoy quickie 2hr ferry across Balai (never been there). If anything close to Batam, it's a different world (as you say, gals qlty not same). Probably good for 1 night at most, or you'll be bored to skulls. 1X at Batam, felt so relieved by taking 1st available morning ferry.
Flight is +$40 to/fro (if book early) vs loooong bus ride 14hrs, so in my personal opinion is worth time saved and kar chng ache. Sure, the bloody bt700 is outrageous, but taxi bt250 x 2 can be split amongst group. If you are enroute to Bkk, AirAsia can be had for bt1100 (2 weeks early booking).
