frenching is almost zero risk for any STDs, including herpes, syphilis, chlamydia, hep B, and ESPECIALLY not HIV. please go to medhelp.org for more updated info by STD specialists. this is not a good place for you to get accurate STD information.

An individual with a healthy mouth and gums is low risk. However, anyone with mouth ulcers, bleeding gums etc who is Hep B positive can potentially pass on the virus.

i believe this is a case of 'documented risk versus theoretical risk'. anyway, i have to amend my previous statement to exclude hepatitis B, because i was exclusively referring to STDs only. anyway, if you got a hep B jab, wouldn't it be a moot point already?

if you regularly read medhelp.org, you'll know that frenching has negligible risk. medical professionals never dare to say zero risk for legal reasons. but if you read responses from the 2 STD specialists on medhelp, you'll frequently see them saying frenching is practically no risk.

you guys made it sound like frenching is high risk activity, and that is outdated information. i'm just relaying the updated info from medhelp, these are not my own theories.

and for those who are unable to comprehend the meaning of 'documented versus theoretical', it means that scientifically/medically, it has not been disproven that certain modes of transmission is not possible. but in reality, not a single case has been put on record regarding that. e.g not one case of HIV transmission has been from purely frenching, but yes theoretically there is the possibility it can happen. it's like saying theoretically anybody can get knocked down by an aeroplane while simultaneously getting struck by lightning and stung by a hive of bees, but in reality no such thing has ever happened.

i understand all of us have good intentions - some people prefer to use scare tactics in hopes that other people will benefit from it, that's fine. my intention also stems from goodwill, just that i choose to relay accurate info so that people understand exactly what is going on instead of being paranoid about everything.

footnote: yes one of the posters above is right, oral herpes can potentially be transmitted during frenching. but that is also very rare. only when the virus is shedding, and enough of the virus gets into your system then you will get it. plus, it's very easy to detect. most of the time, herpes sores are on the lips and around the mouth where you can obviously see it. but i'm pretty sure most, if not all, guys here are sensible enough not to kiss a girl if she has disgusting sores around her mouth. and finally, oral herpes is usually NOT sexually transmitted and even if you got it, it's pretty much nothing to worry about - it's not deadly and many people actually acquire it from young. (doctor's words on medhelp, not mine)

So Oral HERPES is not a STD then? :rolleyes: Besides HIV, can kindly enlighten which other STDs are DEADLY? :rolleyes: STDs may not be deadly but make no mistake it can destroy many things & deal a fate worst than death especially for those who are married if you know what i mean ;)

it's pretty impossible to give yourself genital herpes even if you had oral herpes.

so i'm sorry but no, frenching will not result in genital herpes, which is the original topic. i can't find another thread in medhelp regarding auto transferring of virus from oral to genital, but it has been mentioned before by dr HHH that it's does not happen, e.g if you had oral herpes, you cannot automatically get genital herpes.

unlike genital herpes which is transmitted via intercourse, oral herpes is not usually classified under STDs, although it's frequently thought to be so. if you read the STD forum, when people ask about oral herpes, the resident doctors often say "oral herpes is not classified under STDs, this is posted in the wrong forum."

i'm no expert, i did not create all these theories, i'm just relaying UPDATED info i've read from the resident STD specialists there who have studied STDs including herpes and HIV extensively for many years. that's why in the first place i recommended the TS to go there to seek answers, i'd trust the medical professionals there rather than the urban legends here.

if some eye rolling armchair experts here are still adamant, please, by all means, go challenge the doctors on medhelp. after all, you ARE the expert right?
