He had an in-depth understanding of human nature and was instrumental in preserving the traditional red light districts. He recognised that whores serve a social need and took measures to make the vice trade as safe as possible.

Had the left wing Barisan Socialists gained power, they would have shut the whole industry down.

For that we should all be forever grateful to the father of modern Singapore.

God bless him.

He is one n the only one Sg will ever have. His contribution to Sg is immense ! No one can ever replace him. With no disrespect to our northern neighbor, u compare Sg to msia . What do u think ? Aren't we lucky to have lky to lead us ? He is not perfect but he did wat he is supposed to do for the gd of Sg . Tats a fact we can't erase

Now he is gone . RIP our Farther . We will always remember you forever

Coming from the nation north to Singapore I feel a deep jealousy for my friends here. To see a younger nation than malaysia excelling in all measurable aspects goes to prove the legacy that he leaves behind. Now that I'm working here, I do feel grateful for the man who has transformed singapore to a country that Malaysia can only dream of in the next 100 generations. All these is made even more apparent when malaysia has resources and land and people but alas.. It's just a country run by a bunch of monkeys playing the racial card ever since independence.

So yes. Given he has made the decisions he had to make in the past, be it right or wrong, in the end.. He has gotten himself a successful Singapore.

RIP..

Without him, we would not have come this far in 50 years.

It's a sad day for all Singaporeans:(

I am a Malaysian working in SG, well, from all the facebook tribute to the late Mr LKY, you can tell he is not only respected in Singapore, but also in Malaysia Chinese community.

Singapore is lucky to have him as head of state. Imaging you have our Mr M or Mr N...I can not imagine what Singapore will be as it has minimum natural resources.

RIP.

Re: Love him or hate him

A lot of pple qn his way of governing the country but to me Tis is never an issue . The is no right or left way in his u should govern a country. There is no text book or school to teach how a leader should govern a country . End of the day it is the result , does the leader deliver wats promised , does the leader bring the country to success . If yes then it is the correct way of governing the country. And surely mr lee is correct . Not only he is correct , he also did the impossible . Tats y he deserve the respect not only by sporeans but the world

In Memory of Mr Lee Kuan Yew

This thread is a small tribute to the visionary political giant who had played a major role in bringing Singapore to where it is today.
