Using protection does not prevent the transmission of the HSV (herpes) and the HPV (genital wart) virus.

This is because the virus can be transmitted via skin to skin contact via areas not covered by a condom.

Examples of areas that are not protected are the base of the shaft of the penis and the scrotum area.

Yup thats so true. Was wearing condom at all times and still got infected :(

Dear Fungrapes,

You could have gotten something more nasty than this one if you did not use a condom - maybe HIV as typically HIV sufferers tend to have one or two other STIs - reason being that the sores faciliate the transmission.

Take no chances. Don't gamble your life away, use a condom!
