Kovan 81 and Fragrance
 

Today's Lian He Zao Bao reported that the authorities are considering banning hourly rentals in these two Kovan hotels. I guess it is "karma" when they raise their prices to $30 when times were too good. Like the hotels in Joo Chiat who had been disallowed hourly rentals, I think its a matter of time they will go into history. I mean which tourist will stay in Kovan - no shopping, no tourist attractions, no accessibility? Now, you mention Kovan to any FL, they definitely will say no, thanks. The owners can now allow their employees to go on long leave. LOL.

Personnally, their attitude and service level is nothing much to shout about.
Fragrance is prolly better than the almighty and proud staff of K81

Anyway I don't go there anymore, so its not a loss

Just hope that they leave Lavender alone else I would have a hard time "buying newspapers and having a kopi in 1hr"

bro, i totally agree the fxxking altitude of staff H81 Kovan....

There 1 time i overshot just 10 mins as they did not call to remind....they said must pay $15 for the extension. I even propose pay $10 as not my fault....they threaten to call police. I say i will wait. And the police did not atend..so I left them without paying....that history from now I banned going H81.....they think they have monopoly the industry and fxxk altitude.....

one time i requested for the room with a sofa as need to tcss with a shy one ... knn that young boy at the counter asked me for $40 ... i ask why, and he said bigger room.... i said forget it, uncle just need the room to fuck, not to show off...

I dun believe law can be discrimanatory, i.e. if they gonna ban hourly booking, they will have to ban ALL hotels from hourly booking. So either all transit hotels close down or have to find new tactic. Eg. on paper, minimum booking is 1 night. But if early check out will give discount. So we can check in at 1pm for 1 night (say $50) but we check out 2 hours later they discount us $30 so we only pay $20.

At the end of the day, i dun know why they doing this rubbish la, we (customer and FL) not disturbing anyone ma....and some more newspaper quoted woman's charter that living off the earning of a WL is a crime. i wonder who they are refering to that is living off the WL's earnings? The Hotel? Cannot be wat, we pay the hotel directly and pay the WL separately. Unless, unknown to us, the hotel has been taking a cut from the WL all this while...

Think the ban likely got to do with the police raid last Thurs where 12 prc were arrested as reported in the Straits Times on 4 April 2010. Too much activities were carried out in these hotels and most probably residents there complaint lol..

Once, I was at tis hotel with a prc n I ask her why use tis hotel. She told me, its very safe. So, not true lol. It depends on our lucks. So, if scare of being caught, the best stay at home..... So, if want to cheong, be careful n try avoid those hotels at GLs. The raid will not stop me from cheonging. Anyway, I oso dun like the above hotel, esp K81. Its expensive and the room condition not said very good as compare to some....

Ppl go to K81 maybe/partly there aren't any burget hotel nearby this area. The raid will not stop me from cheonging too. So how r u lately bro?

The police just putting up a show for the nearby resident.
They make complaints, because it is affecting their property value and well being.
JC is also a very typical example of such, think just a matter of time the transit option will be remove.
It should be an isolated case of raid, because it will be an island wide event rather then just 2 budget hotel in the neighborhood area.
